be as soft as you can, put a drink in my hand

On Wednesday I attended the launch of Scotch & Soda’s AW 15 collection, and in the words of my dear colleague “It was so swanky!”

All looking lovely representing GLAMOUR Magazine

Our glasses were spilling over with champagne and G&Ts and vodka, we indulged our taste buds with some exquisite Dutch hors d’oeuvres served by handsome models in button-ups, all the while treating our eyes to some of the best AW 15 pieces I have seen thus far. I feel a very strong urge to whip out my credit card.

The store boasted some beautiful displays and the overall image of the range was one of subtle luxury and youthful innovation within the key trends for AW 15.
The range was brought to life by the pops of this year’s winter colours – blue-grey, golden-yellow, marsala, classic blue and olive green.
Scotch & Soda are keeping the looks luxe with embellishments like studs and beads, and with techniques like quilting and pin-tucking.

Overall, a wonderful event and an even better collection. So excited to go shopping this weekend! (Couldn’t resist the credit card urge :/)

Check out the official Scotch & Soda site here. Thank you so much to the PR company Styling Concepts for hosting this great launch, and of course to GLAMOUR Magazine for taking me with!

Check out some more cool pics below.

song, song of the south

Yesterday I had the privilege of attending the launch of the talented, home-grown jewelry designer Henriette Botha‘s latest collection, “South”. Keeping true to her style Henriette has created a beautiful range of eclectic and striking pieces, with inspiration drawn from the Southern parts of different continents.

The event was hosted by Jenna McArthur PR and was beautiful as always. The most fabulous part of the evening was the chance to get a quick manicure by the amazing FoxBox mobile nail service! Just what I needed. When you’re as busy as I am you don’t have time to do your nails, so the opportunity to have someone else put some paint on was super exciting.

We left the event with beautiful manicures, the most exquisite mini cakes, as well as a personal gift from Henriette – a bracelet from the South collection.

I’m so glad I got to experience this with the wonderful GLAMOUR team. Thanks so much to Henriette Botha and Jenna McArthur PR for the invitations!

you forgot your headlights

I haven’t posted a real real real post in almost exactly a year D: Ah the joys of being an adult with a job…such fun.

Anyway, to kick off my first real real real post for the year I thought I might do a little bit of summer inspo as the weather here starts to (really slowly) heat up. These are some basic essentials that I plan on wearing to death, provided I manage to get tanned enough to show my legs! I foresee a bad accident with either self tan or a sun bed coming up…

Firstly the denim dungarees trend. A few years ago they were associated with farmers but now we’re seeing them on the runways. Haha fashion. I love this laid back street-style look with ripped dungarees… I’ve added this cute aztec bandeau and some on trend shoes (I’m still not entirely convinced with this whole Birkenstocks thing… reminds me of my childhood :/) and topped it off with a hippy peace head chain.

The kimono trend has definitely not died down and probably won’t anytime soon. They are the best things to wear – they add so much character and depth to an outfit. I’ve paired my kimono with a slim fit burgundy crop, the most amazing (and cheapest) pair of shorts and some cool white sandals – ticking off another summer trend.

This outfit is a little bit more dressed-up than the rest, but it still captures this year’s summer vibe and has a lot of attitude. I paired this stunning lace bralet with the still-popular diamond skort. Chunky sandals are essential this summer, so excited because this trend is right up my alley. 😀 I’ve added a statement gold cuff and sunnies to brighten the look and add to the attitude of the outfit.

Lastly my favourite outfit. A beautiful lace bralet (you can probably tell by now that I have an obsession with crop tops haha) paired with distressed, acid wash, high waisties. I love the mix of femininity and grunge. Once again chunky cleated heels, some cute sunnies and a hot holographic clutch and you’re good to go.

Cool 🙂 so that’s it from me, hopefully I’ll find time to post again… Otherwise follow me on Instagram – I am active on it daily. @danicafaye.

fragile broken things

I love black and white dresses just incase you havent noticed ;). One of my favorite ways to wear a monochrome print dress is to throw a neutral coloured, chunky knit over them. They give a modern pattern a bit of a vintage feel (and they keep me warm in my freezing cold shop!). I picked up this amazing cardi from a street vendor in Camden Market, you can find a similar one here.

My mom brought this dress for me in Milan. I was actually pretty impressed with it surprisingly ;). I’m not too sure what the material is (I shortened the dress and lost that little tag that tells you)… but wow! It has like the softest, silkiest feel ever! If you wanna have a look at it, it’s from H&M. Check out how great the print is! It also has a cool leather yoke which you can see below.

These are my beautiful babies I thrifted on Saturday morning… I am in love with them. They are perfect, grunge, 90s leather boots. And they are so comfy. It’s amazing how adding just a pair of chunky shoes can make a feminine outfit more edgy. Love it! If you’re looking for a cool pair of vintage shoes be sure to check out sites like Esty for cool thrifted stuff.

Hope you guys liked my post! Be proud that it’s the second one in two days ;).

i gave you all

i gave you all

Jeesh… been nearly a month since I posted! How bad is that?? I’ve been so busy with exams and everything… but I should have more time now! If you are keen to see what I have been wearing over the past month (as well as things I’ve brought) please follow me on IG (@danicafaye).

Yesterday was literally the first sunny and hot day we have had in Durban for aaaaages… So I took advantage of it and wore this great nude maxi skirt, you can find a similar one here. This lovely crop top is from Cotton On, and it is seriously my favorite… so comfy and the perfect length! As you can see this is a super simple outfit, but this gorgeous crown from GlitterZombiess definitely makes the look! Please check them out – their service was really really good… Will definitely be ordering from them again.

Sorry again for not posting in so long… I am gonna try kick myself into doing it biweekly again. And thank you to all of you who read this!

you know i believe

Had a day off work today (lucky me!) so I got to do a spot of shopping… and for some reason I was in a serious black and white mood! Found some cool pieces that inspired me to do a post on my favourite combo; black, white and denim. It’s a super easy look to pull off and has a nice edginess that I love. Hope you enjoy these as much as I do!

cut offs

This is definitely one of my favourite classic looks – biker jacket, crop top, denim cut offs and an exaggerated necklace. Throw this on with some sheer stockings and creepers and you can go anywhere. This amazing jacket was from Topshop a while ago, check out their similar one here. I brought the shorts here on Ebay. The crop top is from Cotton On, and oh my word it is perf!

As you can tell I really like leather… lol. This skirt is from Cotton On and it’s actually really soft and comfortable which I like! The sheer button-up is from New Look and the acid-wash vest is from Mr Price.

I cannot get over this corset from Asos and how wonderful it is… I literally wanna wear it all the time! I love tops with extremely low-cut arm holes like this one from Mr Price. They look great with a little lace bralet underneath too. This skater skirt is also from Cotton On. It’s quite a bit shorter than it looks so I’m keen to wear it with some stockings and chunky boots for cooler days.

So which look do you like best? Any other cool things you like to do with denim, white and black?

its like wishing for rain

Hey guys! Sorry I haven’t posted in so long… it was a hectic week and I was away and all that… I have however been regularly posting on Instagram so if you haven’t already found me there, its @danicafaye.

So today I’m just gonna show you guys some pics of two outfits I wore this weekend while I was away… Totally love them! Some really great pieces… Let me know what you think!

That beautiful studded corset is from Asos. I’m absolutely in love with it! The back is also really cool – its got cutouts. And don’t you just love the colour of the sheer top? ❤

Sunday’s Outfit:

I was flying home so I had to wear something really comfortable – and this dungaree dress from Factorie is just that! Dungarees and crop tops are one of my obsessions!
