song, song of the south

Yesterday I had the privilege of attending the launch of the talented, home-grown jewelry designer Henriette Botha‘s latest collection, “South”. Keeping true to her style Henriette has created a beautiful range of eclectic and striking pieces, with inspiration drawn from the Southern parts of different continents.

The event was hosted by Jenna McArthur PR and was beautiful as always. The most fabulous part of the evening was the chance to get a quick manicure by the amazing FoxBox mobile nail service! Just what I needed. When you’re as busy as I am you don’t have time to do your nails, so the opportunity to have someone else put some paint on was super exciting.

We left the event with beautiful manicures, the most exquisite mini cakes, as well as a personal gift from Henriette – a bracelet from the South collection.

fallen leaves on the ground

Part of the GLAMOUR team appropriately dressed for our jungle-ly adventure.

Last Wednesday I was treated to one of the most magical events I’ve been to – the launch of Old Khaki and Poetry’s Winter 2015 collection. Jenna McArthur PR did an outstanding job transforming the Brundyn+ Gallery into a delightful and secluded woodland, from tree stumps and bushes all the way down to dry leaves and pine cones. Apart from the beautiful displays, we were gifted with a wonderful toy for all us Instagram lovers (ie: everyone) which instantly printed all posts we made using the special event tags! What a treat. Oh, and let’s not forget the food which included the best mini hamburgers I’ve had. 😀

The winter ranges were on display for us to see (and try on :P). Expect the usual excellent quality and tasteful feel from the Poetry range, which includes some lovely leather trims and beautiful knits. Old Khaki will be giving us tons of really great jackets as well as a large assortment of cool accessories and shoes.

Take a look at some pictures I snapped at the event as well as two sets I did quickly with some of my favourite pieces from the new ranges.

A big thank you from the GLAMOUR fashion team to Old Khaki, Poetry and Jenna McArthur PR for inviting us!

More to come soon!

pretty soon you’ll be floating away

Shopping day 🙂 yay. We don’t celebrate thanksgiving in South Africa – or partake in Black Friday, but I made my own Black Friday by buying only black today ;). Ok sure that wasn’t really my intention but I’m gonna claim it. I have a serious problem though… This inability to wear colors, I’m pretty sure there’s something wrong with me. Lol. Anyway, got some great basics. Check them out.

Firstly this really simple and flattering strapless dress. Ahh I love it to bits. The fit is what makes this a good buy, it sits tightly around the chest and waist and then flares out very naturally. That and the fact that there are literally a billion different ways to wear it.

Sorry about this crap photo. I only realized when I had packed everything away how bad this picture is :’D. Anyway, hopefully you can still see the beauty of this crop ❤ high neck, mesh and bustier style. It is so brilliant. The maxi skirt is also a good buy. It’s slim fitting (I need to start working on my abs so I can wear it) and has a slit on the one side. Perfect for lazy summer days with sandals and a cropped tee.

I wish the quality of this pic was better so you could see how nice these leggings are. I’ve been needing a new pair for a while now. When I came across this very last pair which happened to be in my size, I took it as a sign that this was meant to be :). There is a really pretty piping-like design down the sides. The halter crop speaks for itself. Simple, cool and 90s inspired.

And the last of my black buys is this beautiful sheer playsuit. I wish you could see the back – it’s a deep vee. So pretty. Oh and of course we can’t forget the shoes! Any chunky shoe immediately wins my heart, but this pair made it beat faster. I have a feeling I’m going to be living in these. Let’s hope they’re comfy…

Hope you enjoy checking out my post. Follow me on Instagram (@danicafaye) for daily fashion posts.

you forgot your headlights

I haven’t posted a real real real post in almost exactly a year D: Ah the joys of being an adult with a job…such fun.

Anyway, to kick off my first real real real post for the year I thought I might do a little bit of summer inspo as the weather here starts to (really slowly) heat up. These are some basic essentials that I plan on wearing to death, provided I manage to get tanned enough to show my legs! I foresee a bad accident with either self tan or a sun bed coming up…

Firstly the denim dungarees trend. A few years ago they were associated with farmers but now we’re seeing them on the runways. Haha fashion. I love this laid back street-style look with ripped dungarees… I’ve added this cute aztec bandeau and some on trend shoes (I’m still not entirely convinced with this whole Birkenstocks thing… reminds me of my childhood :/) and topped it off with a hippy peace head chain.

The kimono trend has definitely not died down and probably won’t anytime soon. They are the best things to wear – they add so much character and depth to an outfit. I’ve paired my kimono with a slim fit burgundy crop, the most amazing (and cheapest) pair of shorts and some cool white sandals – ticking off another summer trend.

This outfit is a little bit more dressed-up than the rest, but it still captures this year’s summer vibe and has a lot of attitude. I paired this stunning lace bralet with the still-popular diamond skort. Chunky sandals are essential this summer, so excited because this trend is right up my alley. 😀 I’ve added a statement gold cuff and sunnies to brighten the look and add to the attitude of the outfit.

Lastly my favourite outfit. A beautiful lace bralet (you can probably tell by now that I have an obsession with crop tops haha) paired with distressed, acid wash, high waisties. I love the mix of femininity and grunge. Once again chunky cleated heels, some cute sunnies and a hot holographic clutch and you’re good to go.

Cool 🙂 so that’s it from me, hopefully I’ll find time to post again… Otherwise follow me on Instagram – I am active on it daily. @danicafaye.
